About Me
My wonder for the piano began with music lessons and grew alongside my passion for playing. This journey led me to not only appreciate the instrument but also deeply understand what the piano can give. I celebrate the importance and inherent beauty of music in all its forms, styles, and expressions, believing in its power to touch lives uniquely.
I am Patrick Nicol, a qualified piano tuner and technician, having received my training at the prestigious Piano Technology School in Rugby, England. Under the tutelage of Steve Droy, RPT, whose contributions have significantly advanced the piano trade, I completed intensive training in piano tuning, repair, regulation, and voicing. This education provided a solid foundation for my ongoing mastery of the art and science of piano tuning.
My commitment to excellence extends beyond initial training. I have taken specialised classes with Kawai Hybrid Pianos and am a certified Dampp-Chaser installer. I also received Grand Regulation training at the Royal Academy of Music with Head Technician Doug Chapman ensuring that I can meet the highest standards in piano care.
I am a proud member of the Institute of Musical Instrument Technology (IMIT) and the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG), the largest professional and international piano tuning association. These affiliations underscore my dedication to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and continual improvement of my skills. Achieving the status of a Registered Piano Technician (RPT), the premier accreditation for professional piano technicians, remains a key goal as I strive to provide exceptional service to my clients.
I offer a tailored, personable service, ensuring each individual receives exactly what they need to achieve their most expressive playing potential and musical enjoyment.
